E.G.’s Biography

Edgar Seepersaud, publicly known as E.G. (which stands for Eternal Galis), is a versatile dancehall recording artist who also dabbles in soca and other urban genres from time to time.

Though he was born in Guyana, E.G. and his family moved to St. Lucia when he was 10 years old and then to America at age 15. He grew up with, and got a lot of encouragement from his very supportive family: parents, sisters, aunties, uncles and cousins. E.G.‘s initial career choice had nothing to do with music. Back in his school days, plan A and B were accounting and architecture. That being said, those ambitions were quickly abandoned once he heard Shinehead’s “Unity” album. The more he listened to artists like Shinehead, Shabba Ranks, Big Daddy Kane, Mad Cobra, Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff, the more passionate he became about a career in music.

E.G.‘s musical aspirations started in 1989 while he was still living in St. Lucia; but it was not until he got settled in the United States that he was really able to manifest them. Once in America he created the Diamond Head Sound System and began hosting some of the biggest dances (Caribbean style parties) in Staten Island, New York at the time. He eventually transitioned from selector to artist, after he connected with a couple of his Jamaican friends from school with whom he began writing songs and doing live shows.

Over the years E.G. has worked hard to master the music production process. He is now able to confidently build rhythms, write lyrics, record, mix and master songs. As a multitalented music professional he has released a few singles and has enjoyed unique features on standout projects such as the Sholin Style Compilation. As it relates to shows, he has toured and done performances at various colleges and night clubs in and around the United States.

Having recently released a single titled “Head Gone” on the “Start Up” EP by BKA Records, E.G. is now in full promo mode as he and his team are working non-stop to ensure that the world hears his new music. Additionally, he is prepping an EP that he hopes to have ready for summer, 2019.

New York Based Dancehall Artist, Shootii, Making An Impact In Jamaica With New Single “Style”

Released earlier this year, Style, a catchy dancehall song by New York based recording artist Shootii, is getting steady rotation via some significant platforms in Jamaica.
 
In addition to being featured on popular digital channels like Akam Entertainment, Style is also getting rotation on IRIE FM and is even now being played at some of the biggest dancehall sessions on the island; namely, Uptown Mondays and Stone Love’s Weddy Weddy Wednesdays.
 
Style is a typical club / street record, on which Shootii laments about his “style and pattern” that’s making him virtually irresistible to women. The artist and his team are now putting ideas together for an official video.

Veteran Reggae Artist Turbulence Collaborates With Emerging Artist Likkle Lightning

Established reggae artist Turbulence has collaborated with emerging roots singer Likkle Lightning on the remix of Likkle Lightning’s track, Early Morning Flash. The original version of the song is on the Conditions of Life album (Likkle Lightning's first and only studio album), which was released in January, 2017 on the Sonhi Production label.

Having shared the stage with Turbulence on a number of occasions, in both the United States and Africa, Likkle Lightning considers the artist a true friend in the industry. As such, he initiated the idea of a collaboration, which resulted in the Early Morning Flash Remix.

Jamaica’s Songbird, Ruach Ru, Embarks On Mini Media Tour

As she slowly joins the ranks of seasoned entertainers such as Sophia Brown, Alaine, Etana and others, Ruach Ru is going over and above to ensure that she is both seen and heard.

Since the release of her now trending single, Mr. Player Man, Ruach Ru has literally doubled down on her marketing efforts and is now reaping the benefits. She recently wrapped up a couple of successful performances and is now turning her attention to a mini media tour. The tour will see Ruach Ru being interviewed, and/or performing, on some of the biggest reggae radio and TV shows both here in Jamaica as well as overseas.

Karamanti Launches Her Own Radio Station

Karamanti now has a digital radio station that streams all her songs, some of her interviews, commercials and general updates, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Recently, Karamanti announced that she will be voicing free dubplates for DJs, sound systems and radio programs that have been supporting her music over the years. Since the announcement, she has been bombarded with questions from several selectors wanting information about specific songs. Hence, she compiled as much of her audio content that she was able to find on one platform, a digital radio station.

Karamanti Radio is now live, and can be streamed by anyone, anywhere in the world, at any time. This is the ideal station for fans and supporters, as Karamanti has recorded literally hundreds of songs in her short career. As the CEO/owner of Blakkwuman22 Music, a record label that often collaborates with other artists, Karamanti Radio will also feature songs produced by her label. LT. STITCHIE GETS READY TO DROP NEW ALBUM

Lt. Stitchie is currently putting the finishing touches on his soon to be released album. The project, which has been in the works for over a year, will feature collaborations with: Agent Sasco aka Assassin, Million Stylez, Lukie D, Fantan Mojah and Ricky Stereo. Most of the production was done in France by Manudigital, and though a title has already been decided, Stitchie and his team are not yet ready to share it with the public. The album will be released on the Flash Hit Records label before the end of this year.

Unlike his recent albums, this one will be extremely hardcore, as the Governor seems to be intentionally addressing the obvious negative tone that is dominating the overall music industry.

When asked why this album is so hard, this is what Lt. Stitchie had to say:

"This message of righteousness must be heard by everyone, and particularly in a language understood by everyone, from the deepest corner of the ghetto to the highest pinnacle of the hill top. Across every socio economic strata of societies on the face of this earth. I have the skills set to be seriously effective in this hardcore way, so I am chosen for this time. Evil and falsehood are rapidly becoming the new norm and it would falsely appear that those of us who stand for righteousness are dormant and becoming obsolete. My hardcore delivery and message lucidly obliterate this lie. I am holding back no punches and taking no prisoners ... Hardcore all the way."

Karamanti’s EP “The Black God” is now available on Google Play, Deezer & all other Digital Music Stores

Released in March of this year, “The Black God” EP was only available for digital download via Karamanti’s personal bandcamp store; that is until a few days ago. Based on the increasing number of downloads it’s getting, coupled with the incredible feedback from tons of industry professionals (see responses below), Karamanti decided it was best to also place the EP on: iTunes, Amazon, Deezer, Google Play and Spotify.

Produced and Distributed by her own Blakkwuman22 Music label, “The Black God” EP features five tracks: three reggae, one dancehall and one hip-hop. It has collaborations with veteran roots reggae singer, Mikey General and African hip-hop artist, Obibini. Homeless in Houston – Here is how you can help those affected by the recent Hurricane in Houston, Texas

Unfortunately, a member of the MJE team has been left homeless in Houston. Popular radio and TV host, DJ Solo, the man who has been giving us “The Island Grove Show” for years, was hit hard by Hurricane Harvey. Both he and his family (wife and kids) have lost their home and all their belongings.

That being said, we are asking members of the public to contribute whatever they can to assist them as they try to get back on their feet. Soul Singer PEARL Releases New Single “Free”

Not new to the game but with a whole new expression and confidence, singer and songwriter Pearl says her new single – Free – is a beginning of a new chapter in her musical journey embracing the love of soul, Afro-beat and jazz.

The single Free is a collaboration between Pearl and ThExchange Project with producer, Mugo Nga’ang’a.  The song Free exudes sensitivity and vulnerability and yet has a fierceness, rawness and powerful energy that gives it a colorful and authentic expression of emotion making you feel that you can break free from any kind of setback.

Canadian Artist UZMAN Rebrands With New Logo showing His Fusion Of Reggae And Hip-Hop

Having collaborated with established Reggae acts such as Jah Mason and Junior Reid, UZMAN has always fused his party-style rap music with Jamaica’s roots Reggae. In an attempt to show his love and commitment to both genres, he is now officially rebranding himself and releasing a new logo that he is calling: Fusing DA Fusion.

Though UZMAN resides in Ontario, Canada, he frequently visits and works in Jamaica; constantly promoting his collaborative Reggae releases. In Jamaica he is called the Patois Rapper, while in parts of urban America he is referred to as the Reggae Rapper. Knowing that hip-hop was originally created by a Jamaican, UZMAN believes he is a true representative of both genres.

Sri Lankan Reggae Artist, RasTamil, Connects With Jamaican Veteran Producer, Bobby Digital

Growing up in war-torn Sri Lanka motivated Franklin Fernando to go to battle. But instead of taking up arms, he armed himself with a Fender Stratocaster. After relocating to Canada, Franklin branded himself as RasTamil – combining ‘Ras’ (Rastafarian) and ‘Tamils’ (Sri Lanka’s minority people) – and began making music that reflects the hope of cultures around the world coming together.

In an effort to work with the best in the Reggae industry, RasTamil reached out to Bobby Digital, initially requesting that he mix a song for him, but to his surprise, he was instead given a rhythm produced by the veteran producer for him to voice on. The result is the new single; Bluffing.

According to RasTamil: “The story behind the song is a long story. It goes back to a 5 year long experience I had with the music industry people I thought were true friends, but who ripped me off  with a grant money I got to make my first album. There were times they threatened me with emails saying my music career will go down. They made very negative comments, you know. They also tried to stop people who wanted to help me. But with the help of Most High, I was able to remain strong and come out of people’s negativity little by little. In the end I got this opportunity to work with Bobby Digital, which I’ve been trying to do for a very long time.”

He went on to say: “When I wrote this song I had those threats in my mind which I am metaphorically using the "Blade" for. The message from this song is for the true soulful people who work hard every day and sometimes along the way they run into people who are wolves in sheep clothing and pretend to be friends and play with your trust. But if you are positive, strong and fearless you can conquer evil ways u know.”

NEW REGGAE RELEASE FROM MIKEY GENERAL AND KARAMANTI “BACK AGAINST THE WALL”

Dancehall artist Karamanti has joined forces with Reggae’s living legend, Mikey General, to send a powerful message to Africans at home and in the diaspora. The message is being sent in the form of a song entitled back against the wall.

On top of a roots reggae beat, both artists present some very serious concerns about the current state of the global Black community. They touch on a variety of things, including, but not limited to: religion, slavery, identity theft, division in the Black communities and that is just to name a few. The chorus, which is done by Mikey General ask: now that our back is against the wall, are we gonna beg are we gonna bawl? Back against the wall is the first single from Karamanti’s upcoming EP, THE BLACK GOD, which is scheduled to be out in February, 2017 on her own Blakkwuman22 Music. The rhythm was created by D’Ave Production and the song was mixed and mastered by ODB. All vocals were recorded at Mixing Lab Studios in Kingston, Jamaica by Snysh (who also did the backing vocals).

New Reggae Release: Likkle Lightning – Sunshine

Jamaican/U.S. based Roots Reggae artist Likkle Lightning is back! After taking a short break to complete his recordings, the singer is now gearing up to release his long awaited studio album entitled, “conditions of life.”

With his previous releases he captured the attention of global Reggae enthusiasts with catchy songs like “early morning flash,” “mama Africa” and “temptation.” Likkle Lightning now returns with his latest single, “sunshine.” Produced by his own Sonhi Production record label, “sunshine” is another uplifting, solid roots tune from the man many call the righteous warrior. It, along with the aforementioned songs and several others, will be on the “conditions of life” album.

Karamanti & Hiya Flames to Headline Vinyl Nights in Hamburg, Germany this weekend

On Friday, September 2nd, Karamanti will join Hiya Flames at the popular Vinyl Nights - stage show and dance - at Bruckenstern in Hamburg, Germany. The event is presented by Lion People Sound which is led by Uganda's #1 reggae selector, Qulah (who now resides in Germany).

As the name implies, Vinyl Nights, is a celebration of the flat polyvinyl chloride discs that once dominated the reggae & dancehall industry. As a veteran DJ in the genre, Qulah has decades of hits on vinyl, as such, periodically he host an event dedicated to just that.

As previously stated, the event will be held at Bruckenstern Lounge, located at Stresemannsrabe 133 in Hamburg. Doors will open at 9pm and there is a 10€ entry fee.

UNSTOPPABLE FYAH AND KARAMANTI WILL PERFORM ON AARHUS REGGAE FEST PRE-SHOW (AUGUST 26/27)

Both Unstoppable Fyah and Karamanti have extensive schedules in Europe this year. Though they’re touring separately, the two will represent Jamaica on the Aarhus Reggae Festival Pre-show set for August 26^th and 27^th at the Godsbanen in Aarhus, Denmark. They’re the only two Jamaica-based artists in this year’s lineup; Karamanti will be performing with the More Fyah Band – a Danish group – while Unstoppable Fyah will perform on tracks, supported by Lion People Sound (a German based sound system).

The Aarhus Reggae Festival Pre-show is being organized by Jam Link International, the outfit behind the annual reggae festival in the village, in collaboration with Inversus Festival, another local promoter. In addition to the aforementioned acts, the event will also feature performances from: Mwakenya, One Love Marley Band, Lappa Luma, Sinista Eskapone, Pops Jabu, Jah Turban, DJ Tiger Moth, Riddim Fex, Weapons of Mads Production, Kali-mah Sound, Jah Hero, Likkle Danny and Selector Qulah.

As the name implies, this staging will highlight some of the entertainment planned for the actual festival which will takes place on September 23^rd and 24^th at Voxhall (in Aarhus). Frankie Paul’s latest releases from Capo-Landmark Music now available on iTunes

Capo-Landmark Music, the label owned and operated by Kim Phillips – the son of reggae legend, Glen Adams – has just released two roots reggae tracks, from iconic reggae superstar, Frankie Paul. Both songs were produced by Glen Adams prior to his passing and though they may have been heard by a few people, they were never officially released, until now.

The first track, titled “out in the deep,” is an inspirational record that deals with his – Frankie Paul’s – spiritual tenacity; While the second song, “too much guns” addresses the issue of gun control and/or the lack thereof.

Frustrated by all the violence taking place all over the world, Kim Phillips decided that it was time to share unreleased records from his father’s extensive catalogue, which is filled with the type of message-music needed for this day and age. Terro Melody opens for Beres Hammond & Maxi Priest on UK tour

Newcomer Terro Melody, who is known for his outstanding showmanship in the tourist areas on Jamaica’s North Coast, has left the island for Britain; there he is expected to do a series of performances with the likes of Beresford Hammond, Maxi Priest and others. The tour is being called ‘The King of Lover’s Rock Live,’ as this is the title many have given to Beres for his consistency in making hits after hits in the lover’s rock genre.

Atlanta, GA – The inaugural Electric Dancehall Atlanta will take place at the newly refurbished WildPitch Music Hall, located at 255 Trinity Avenue, Atlanta, GA on Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 10pm to 3am.  The highly anticipated special event is set to be the premier gathering for the progressive Atlanta Caribbean music and EDM movements, bringing fans together in the downtown area for one night only.  Advance tickets can be purchased for $20 at www.electricdancehallatlanta.eventbrite.com. Headlining Electric Dancehall Atlanta will be DJ Mars, Shane Talon, ĀGARD, Highlanda Sound, and DJ Passport. The night will be hosted by the genre-bending Jamaican performer and songwriter, Dreggae.
